I understand～の使い方

1.I understand～
これは周囲の状況から判断して、「～らしいですね」「～でしょう」という意味です。
同じような表現として、I think～、I suppose～、I guess～、I presume～、I imagine～があります。
すでに学んだI hear～（～だそうですね）もほぼ同じ意味です。

2.United Staes
アメリカ人は、母国をAmericaと呼ぶことは少なく、the United States, the States. the U.Sなどと言います。
3.be back
be back to the United Statesの意味です。

4.Great
excellent、fine（とてもいい）の意味です。

1.When did you live in Chicago?
あなたはいつシカゴに住んでいましたか？

I lived there about five years ago.
私は5年ぐらい前にそこに住んでいました。

2.When did the game begin?
いつ試合が始まりましたか

It began over an hour ago.
1時間以上も前に始まりました。

3.When did he buy that record?
彼はいつあのレコードを買いましたか？

He bought it a few weeks ago.
彼は2,3週間前にそれを買いました。

4.When did you write to Mary?
あなたはいつメアリーに手紙を書きましたか？

I wrote to he tow days ago.
私は彼女に2日前に書きました。

5.When did you first take up judo?
あなたが最初に柔道を始めたのはいつですか？

I first took it up six months ago.
私は6ヶ月前にそれを始めました。
